Obituary

Harriet M. Lowry, passed away on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, North Dakota.

Harriet was born on November 1, 1923 in Sanborn, North Dakota to Elizabeth and Herbert Lettenmaier. She grew up in Valley City and began her career in banking shortly after her education. She met and married Orville Lowry in Valley City on June 3, 1950.

During the first years of their marriage, Harriet devoted her time to raising her two children Mark and Susan.

The family moved throughout the upper Midwest during their first fifteen years together, settling in Lincoln, Nebraska in 1965. Shortly after their arrival, Harriet rejoined the work force as an accounting associate for Montgomery Ward. She remained in this position for the next 20 years as Orville joined the upper ranks of Archer Daniels Midlands. They retired in September 1990 and moved to Fargo.

Harriet & Orville lived for several years at Waterford at Harwood Groves, where they spent much of their time with new friends, enjoying the many activities which the retirement community offered.

On June 26, 2009, Orville passed away in Fargo after battling emphysema for more than a decade.

Harriet is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and two brothers.

She is survived by her son, Mark Lowry of Denver, Colorado and her daughter Susan Lowry and her husband Randall Bush of Castle Rock, Colorado. Her sister Jean Fletcher of West Fargo survives.

    Lincoln NebraskaMark and Susie,
We were sorry to read of your mother,Harriet, passing. We had known your parents for over 30 years.
Not only in a business sense, but also as personal friends. We shared the same anniversay date June 3, and was our time to keep in contact after they moved to Fargo. We remember you both from your school days. To back when you Mark, purchased a ’61 Chevy that had served me well through High School. Ha! Both your Dad and Mother were very fine people, We have fond memories of them. Harriet was always a very classy lady in our eyes.
    Best regards, Brent and Joyce
