Harry Roy Johnson, age 84, Riverview Place, Fargo, ND died Sunday, January 5, 2003 at Innovis Hospital in Fargo, ND. Harry Roy Johnson was born October 4, 1918 on the family farm at Casselton, ND, the son of Wanda and Roy Johnson. He attended school in Casselton and graduated from North Dakota State University with a degree in Agricultural Economics in 1940. He was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho Fraternity, co-captain of the football team, and was chosen class athlete for two years. He was also a member of Saddle and Sirloin Club and Interfraternity Council. After graduation, he worked for the Federal Land Bank until enlisting in the Navy on January 29, 1942. He was commissioned as a Lieutenant and served two years aboard a sub-chaser in the North Atlantic and served two years on an attack transport in the South Pacific. Upon separation from the service on March 31, 1946, he returned to Fargo and joined the staff of Cargill Inc. in Minneapolis and Fargo. He married Mary Catherine Johlfs on June 14, 1948 in Marshall, MN and they had lived in Fargo since that time. He worked for Interstate Seed Company and Amchem Products which was bought by Union Carbide. In 1981, he was named ?Outstanding Sales Manager? for Union Carbide. He retired from Union Carbide in 1984. He will be missed so much, but the memories we have of him will be cherished forever. His family continues to hear stories of his lifelong and behind-the-scenes support of high school and college athletics. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brother Frank, and an infant son, Robert. He is survived by his daughters, Cathy (Scott) Dillon, Morrisville, NC and Margaret Jensen, Charles City, Iowa; three granddaughters, Kate (Chad) Jensen Ford, Megan (Stuart) Dillon Dudley and Molly Dillon; a sister, Margaret Wasche, Fargo, ND and two brothers, Ralph (Alice) and Roy (Louise), both Fargo, ND. There will be visitation on Tuesday, January 7, 2003 from 5-7 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 7 p.m. in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, January 8, 2003 at 12:30 p.m. in Church of the Nativity. The Funeral Mass will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. in Church of the Nativity, Fargo, ND. Burial will be in Casselton City Cemetery, Casselton, ND. Arrangements by Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, ND.
