Helen Laura Priebe was born on March 10, 1917, to Otto and Elizabeth Dorman Priebe in Stewartville, Minnesota. She graduated from Stewartville High School at the age of 17 in 1935. She attended St. Margaret's School of Nursing in Kansas City and received her degree in Registered Nursing (RN) in 1938. She nursed in several hospitals in Rochester: The Kahler, the Worrell, the Colonial, and the Methodist. In September 1940, Helen married Robert Kuhle in Stewartville. In 1945 they moved to Mabel, Minnesota, where Bob managed the creamery for two years. In 1947 the couple moved to Hillsboro, North Dakota, and founded the Goose River Creamery - later known as Three Star Dairy, Inc. Helen continued to nurse in the Hillsboro Community Hospital until 1972. Helen was committed to the welfare and health of all of her patients and served them all with great verve and enthusiasm during her entire career. During part of her career she served as a special nurse for the Vice President of Mexico for several years. She was an active member of St. John Lutheran Church, Homemakers, Church Circle (Dorcas and Lois), Birthday Club and Bridge Club. Helen passed away at Union Hospital in Mayville, North Dakota, on Saturday, May 23, 2003. She is survived by her beloved husband of 62 years, her daughter, Dr. Nancy Kaldor of Minneapolis, and her son, Stephen (Jacalyn) Kuhle of Mayville, North Dakota. She also leaves granddaughters: Dr. Katheryn Kaldor of Philadelphia, Kristin Kaldor Kassis, Esq. (James) of Somerset, New Jersey, Kori Kaldor of Washington, D.C., Jennifer Kuhle of Missoula, Montana, and Kimberly Kuhle of Mayville, North Dakota. She also leaves a newly born great grandson, J. Kristian Kassis of Somerset, New Jersey. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Rachel Priebe Simus, and her infant daughter, Mary Ann Kuhle. Friends may join the family in visitation at the Wildeman Funeral Home in Hillsboro, North Dakota on Tuesday, May 27, 2003, from 4:30 to 7:00 with a prayer service at 6 p.m. The funeral will be held at St. John Lutheran Church in Hillsboro on Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. Final interment will be in the Lutheran Cemetery in Stewartville, Minnesota, where her infant daughter is buried.
