Howard A. Thompson, 78, Erhard, MN formerly of the Walcott & Kindred areas, died Friday, January 12, 2007 at Lake Region Hospital, Fergus Falls, MN. Howard was born to Mabel Thompson on February 29, 1928 in Fargo, North Dakota. He attended the Viking School, rural Walcott, ND. He worked at an area farm before entering the United States Navy, May 1, 1945. Howard received the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal, the American Area Campaign Medal and the World War II Victory Medal while serving in World War II. Howard was honorably discharged August 2, 1946. Howard returned to the Kindred area where he lived and worked. He married Beverly Graff October 29, 1950 in Kindred and had six children. He got into the antique business which took him to California. He married Annette Pisano November 17, 1984 and returned to Erhard, MN. He owned and operated Dakota Antiques of Erhard, MN. Howard entered the Minnesota Veteran?s Home of Fergus Falls, MN April 14, 1999. Howard is survived by his wife Annette, his children, Loree Walvatne, Fargo, ND, Peggy Duffield, Alta Loma, CA, Dean Thompson, Glendora, CA, Rick Thompson, Covina, CA, and Mark (Karen) Thompson, Castle Rock, CO, by his mother, Mabel Thompson Rockstad, Walcott, ND brothers James Rockstad, Paso Robles, CA, Ronald Rockstad, Fairbanks, AK, sisters Mercedes Lickfelt, Seattle, WA and Lianne Rockstad, Walcott, ND, 10 grandchildren, 2, great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son Larry Thompson. The funeral service for Howard will be Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at 1:00pm at the Viking Lutheran Church, rural Walcott with burial at the Gol Cemetery, rural Kindred, ND. There will be a prayer service on Monday, January 15, 2007 at 7:00pm at the Fredrikson Funeral Chapel, Kindred and visitation will be from 5-7pm at the Chapel.
