Hubert Discher

Hubert passed away on Saturday, February 7, 2004, at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City, North Dakota, at the age of 90. Hubert E. Discher ?Hoot? was born on December 10, 1913, on the family farm near Leonard, North Dakota. He grew up there and attended school in Leonard. Hubert then worked with his brothers and sisters on the family farm near Leonard. Hubert E. Discher and Anna C. Anderson were married in Leonard, North Dakota, on October 15, 1940. They lived in Leonard until coming to Fargo in 1941. Hubert worked for Railway Express in Fargo for 30 years. He then worked for Bristol Distributing in Fargo for a number of years. Hubert and Anna moved to the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City in January of 2002. Hubert was a longtime member of the Fargo Moravian Church, serving as Treasurer, Elder and Trustee, and Choir Director for many years. He was an avid woodworker and restored many pieces of antique furniture. Hubert?s greatest joy in life was his family. Spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, watching them grow, was such a blessing to him. Hubert is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Anna, of Valley City; his children, Sharon (Wayne) Kerr of Fargo; Jack (Ruth) Discher of Fargo; Diane (Neil) Heier of Harwood, North Dakota; his grandchildren, Julie (Curt) Grant, and their daughter Amanda; Jodi (Craig) Hanson, and their children, Katie and Cole; Kari (Adam) Burnside and their daughter, Grace; Jay Discher; Beth (Jade) Nelson, and their children, Hanna and Tanner; and Jamie Heier. He is also survived by his brother, Edgar Discher of Embden, North Dakota; and several nieces and nephews. Hubert was preceded in death by his parents; and 3 brothers and 4 sisters.
