Ida passed away on Saturday, March 6, 2004, at MeritCare Hospital in Fargo, at the age of 89. Ida Osmon was born on January 12, 1915, the daughter of Albert and Hannah (Hanson) Osmon, in Hillsboro, North Dakota. She grew up in Hillsboro where she attended school and graduated from Hillsboro High School. She continued her education in Fargo going to Beauty School. Ida was united in marriage to Karl A. Diehl on January 7, 1938, in Hillsboro. They made their home on the family farm near Hillsboro where they farmed for many years. Karl passed away on July 24, 1990. Ida was very active in her community. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW Auxiliary, and was a Gold Star Sister. She volunteered at the Hillsboro Nursing Home for many years as a hairdresser and also served on the first Hospital Board that was responsible for the construction of the new hospital building. Ida was well known for her decorations and party at Halloween where all the kids got treats and got to go down her firepole. She also had an entire room in her home devoted to Christmas. Ida is survived by her loving family, her daughter, Kaye (Roger) Tollerud of Layton, Utah; and her son, Charlie (Karla) Diehl of Edina, Minnesota; grandchildren, Brad (Anita) Tollerud, and children, Hillary and Chris; Beth (Rob) Munsterman and children, James and Nathan Jonas; and Patti (Paul) Mullen. Ida is also survived by her brothers, Wallace (Helen) Osmon of Langdon, North Dakota; and Lyle Osmon of Walnut Creek, California; and her dear friend, Liz Hanson of Hillsboro.
