Ione M. (Erickson) Haugen, 88, Fargo, ND died on March 16, 2008 in Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND. Ione Erickson was born in Fargo, ND on November 3, 1919 to Theodore and Alma (Ellestad) Erickson. She was baptized and confirmed at Gol Lutheran Church in Kindred, ND. She grew up on the family farm and attended Riverside School and graduated from Kindred High School in 1937. In 1946 she moved to Minnepolis, MN and attended Minneapolis Business College and was employed by a dental clinic for the next 11 years. Ione married Franklin Haugen on April 9, 1962 in Gol Lutheran Church. They moved to Euclid, OH where they resided for 6 ?.years at which time her husband died from cancer (December 24, 1968). She later returned to Minneapolis where she worked another 14 years at the same dental clinic as an Account Manager, retiring in 1982. Ione sang in the church choir for several years and was active in various church activities. She enjoyed traveling in the US and in several European countries. In 1999, she returned to Fargo, and entered Bethany Assisted Living in 2001. She is survived by a sister: Adeline Erickson, West Fargo, ND; two brothers: Kenneth Erickson (Betty) Fargo, ND; Martell Erickson (Joyce) West Fargo, ND; two sisters-in-law: Addie Erickson, Fargo, ND and Beverly Erickson, St. Paul, MN; 16 nieces and nephews, 32 grand nieces and nephews; and 10 great grand nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; brothers: Archie, Wallace, and Donald; and sister-in-law: Adelyn Gedde. The family wishes to thank the staff at Bethany Homes for the wonderful care they gave to Ione. Celebration of life: 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 19, 2008 at the Mavis Whiting Chapel, Bethany Homes, Fargo, ND. Visitation: one hour before the service at the chapel. Burial: Kindred Cemetery.
