Ione Seidel

Ione Seidel, 79, Fargo, ND, passed away Wednesday, April 27, 2005, at the Elim Care Center, Fargo, under the care of Hospice. Ione Jacklitch was born to Oscar and Opal (Cable) Jacklitch in Kirksville, MO, on November 26, 1925. She moved with her family to Tenny, MN, where she graduated from Tintah High School in 1945. Ione married Earl Schmidt in Wahpeton, ND, on July 31, 1945. They farmed and raised their family in Fergus Falls, MN, until 1972. They moved to Moorhead, MN, in 1973 and later divorced. In 1977, she married Donald Bradley, Russellville, AR. He died in 1984. In 1989, she married Lawrence Seidel, Newfolden, MN. He died in 1996. Ione was a dedicated loving Mother and Grandmother, and a loyal friend. She worked as a housekeeper for several years at the Nativity Church Rectory and later in life up until her illness as a Senior Companion for Lutheran Social Services in Fargo, ND. During her life she served as Chairman of the American Cancer Society in Fergus Falls, MN, as President of the FM Singles Group, Fargo, ND, and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. Ione is survived by her children, Joan Olson of Omaha, NE, Judy (Larry) Olson of Dent, MN, Barbara Sletmoe of Fargo, ND, Dale Schmidt of Shakopee, MN, and Janet (Lee) Engebretson of Moorhead, MN; seven grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; three sisters, Dorothy Muniz of Moorhead, MN, Pat Jacklitch of East Grand Forks, MN, and Gayle (Jim) Mousseau of Fargo, ND; and a special nephew, Terry Waite of East Grand Forks, MN. She was preceded in death by her daughter Mary Schmidt, her parents, an infant brother Charles, an infant sister Betty Lou, and sister Nadine (Harry) Waite of Fairmount, ND. The funeral will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, April 30, in St. Mary?s Cathedral, Fargo, ND. Visitation will be held from 5:00-7:00 PM Friday in Boulger Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 PM in the funeral home. Visitation will also be held in the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Burial will be at a later date at the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Fairmount, ND.
