James J. Brodigan, 65, Fargo, ND died on Tuesday, June 16th 2009 in Bethany Homes, Fargo. Jim was born January 29, 1944 in Moorhead, MN the son of James Sr. and Ione Brodigan. He graduated from Shanley High School in 1963. He served in the US Navy on submarines from 1963 to 1967. He received a National Defense Service Medal and was honorably discharged. He received a Business Administration Degree from NDSCS in 1972. In 1976 Jim was certified as a Dr. of Hypnotherapy. He was a trusting and kind man and became a consultant to help people stop smoking. Also, with his excellent voice skills and a microphone he mesmerized people with a stage hypnosis show. Jim played venues throughout the U.S. People loved him. He worked for years as a hypnotist at the Cinema Lounge, and was instrumental, while there, in bringing comedy into the F-M area. Jim always ended his show with this suggestion: When you see the color blue it will calm you, help you retain your studies, ease stress, and help you make positive decisions. In 1976 Jim served as a Republican Party Delegate. He was a member of the F-M Pioneer Toastmaster where he received their Advanced Silver Award. He performed in several shows at the F-M Community Theater. Jim also participated in many golf and bowling tournaments including the Roger Maris Tournament where he played for the Shanley team. He shot a hole in one in 1994. Jim was known for his beautiful tenor voice and his tremendous stage presence. He loved singing karaoke, won many contests, and made many lifelong friends. Jim was very proud of his Irish heritage. On St. Patrick’s Day he would dress up, dance the Irish Jig in the parade and sing Irish songs at the American Legion. Jim married Linda Haarsager Hennebry in 1995. They made their home in Fargo. He is survived by his wife Linda (Fargo), his mother Ione Brodigan, Fargo, siblings; Maureen (Tom) Davies, Fargo, Judy (Neal) Jacobson, Bismarck, Mike (Judy) Brodigan, Texas, Laura (Dan) Clegg, Colorado, Jo Brodigan (Fred Monk), Montana, Jeff (Dorothea) Brodigan, Jamestown, Betsy (Jon) Ewen, Mayville, and Angie (Scott) Lee, Idaho, and his step-children; Kimberly (Ben) Cohen, Texas and Mike (DeAnna) Hennebry, Fargo and 5 step-granddaughters, Chloe and Sophie Cohen, TX and Kori, Paige, and Piper Hennebry, Fargo. Jim is preceded in death by his father James Joseph Brodigan Sr. The Prayer Service will be held Sunday, June 21st at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo at 6:30pm with a There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Fargo at 10:00am, Monday June 22, Vigil from 5:00-6:30. The Interment will be at the ND Veteran’s Cemetery, Mandan, ND at a later date. Memorials may be given to Hospice of the Red River Valley, Fargo.
