James (Jim) Orville Hagen of Fargo passed away in his home on Tuesday, June 16th, 2015, surrounded by his loved ones.

Jim was born October 7th, 1953, in Devils Lake, ND, to Orville and Ella (Ellingson) Hagen. He was raised in Devils Lake, graduated from Devils Lake High School, and went on to graduate from NDSCS with a degree in drafting. He worked as manager of Great Plains Supply in Cando, ND, from 1973-1984. From 1984-2014, he worked for A.K. Foss, Inc., in Fargo, ND.

Jim married Sandy (Hagen) on November 15th, 1975, and they were blessed with two sons Mark and Jeff. They made their homes in Cando, ND, and Fargo, ND. Sandy passed away on September 7th, 1999.

On January 6th, 2005, Jim married Joan Yager. They enjoyed 10 years of traveling and camping. For the past several years they enjoyed lots of friends and a little golf at the Larimore Dam. His passions in life included motorcycles, race cars, traveling, and sharing time with family and friends.

Jim is survived by his wife, Joan; son Mark and grandson Brennan, of Fargo, ND; son Jeff, of Frontier, ND; brother Steve (Elyse) Hagen, of Brainerd, MN; sister-in-law Sally Hagen, of Bismarck, ND; sister-in-law Suzi Hagen, of Minneapolis, MN; step-son Kyle (Nicole) Eisenzimmer, of Eagan, MN; step-grandchildren Jack and Layla Eisenzimmer, of Moorhead, MN; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his father Orville, mother and step-father Ella and Pat Kalinowski, first wife Sandy, brothers Robert and John, nephew Peter Hagen, and step-son Jared Eisenzimmer.

Honorary pallbearers: all of Jim’s many friends.

The family would like to thank Dr. Ralph Levitt, Dr. Denise Snow, and their nurse Renee for the care that Jim has received over the last several years.

    Mark and Jeff:

My family’s deepest sympathy is with you.

I am so saddened by your Dad’s passing. My heart is full of memories of him, and your family, from growing up. Races, white water rafting in MT, the time your family stayed with all of us kids when my parents were out of town, and so, so many more. I remember fondly how when I was little I was just never quite sure if Jim was teasing me or not because of the look he’d give me. Your Dad was an incredible friend to my dad for 25+ years, something I know Dad treasured immensely. Jim was strong and courageous, funny, and a very good man.

Godspeed Jim. And my thoughts and prayers are with the two of you and your entire family during this very difficult time.
