Obituary

James R. Johnson passed away June 8, 2010 in his home with his family under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.

James Robert Johnson was born on December 13, 1927 to Leonard and Freda (Benson) Johnson in Audubon, MN.  He attended school there and began farming at an early age with a neighbor and worked building and grounds at the Fair Hills Resort and Golf Course.  He entered the army on his 18th birthday.  He was discharged in 1948 and came to Fargo, ND.  He married Medrise Montplaisir on December 31, 1949 at St. Mary’s Cathedral.  He started working at American Standard in 1948 and worked with the company until retiring in 1992.  He has had a special interest in gardening-especially flowers.

He is survived by his wife; children:  Diane Stallman (Gary) Gig Harbor, WA, Colleen Bostow (Dennis), Omaha, NE, Paulette Montplaisir , Eugene, OR, Debra Johnson, Eugene, OR, David Johnson, Fargo, ND, Bruce Johnson, Fargo, ND, Elaine Kautzman (Timothy), Fargo, ND; 8 grandchildren; 5 great grandchild; siblings:  Eunice Kunkle, Racita, CA, Lenore Karassefferian (Bogus), Racita, CA, Dorothy Weakley (Gaston), Culpeper, VA, Floyd Johnson, Arlington, VA, Donald Johnson (Linda), Culpeper, VA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 brother, John.

The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday at St. Mary’s Cathedral. There will be a prayer service at Boulger Funeral Home at 6:00 p.m. Thursday. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 6:00 on Thursday in the funeral home and one hour before the funeral in the church.

Memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley
