Janet E. (Melby) Matthys, 76 of Argusville, ND passed away on Saturday May 3, 2014 at Bethany Homes in Fargo.

Janet was born October 1, 1937 to Calmer and Ada Melby and grew up in Columbus ND and graduated from high school there.

She was united in marriage to Duane Matthys on October 28, 1957 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Fargo.

The couple lived and farmed in the Harwood, ND area for 41 years and raised 7 children.  Duane passed away February 14, 1998 and Janet continued to live on the farm.

Janet was a very talented woman.  She was an excellent seamstress and made beautiful quilts.  She also did ceramics, oil paintings and many other crafts she  excelled in. 

Janet is survived by 2 daughters and 5 sons:  Ann Matthys, Tami Brand, Jeff (Kari), Marty (Lori), Lowell (Vicky), Gary, Scott (Melissa), 21 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, and 1 sister, Joyce Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Duane, her brothers, Duane, Morris, Lowell and Howard Melby.

  4. Dear family, tho it is always hard to say goodbye to a loved one, I pray you will find peace in your hearts in knowing your dear mom/grandma suffers no more. She is in the arms of the angels and is finally at peace. God bless you all on this journey and may happy memories guide you thru the tears. God bless and keep you all in his loving care.
