Jean Ann Bassett, Fargo, passed away at Farmington Hills, Michigan on May 24, 2011.

Jean Ann Baker was born to Roy A. Baker and Inez (Engel) Baker on May 5, 1922 in Fergus Falls, Minnesota. She grew up and attended schools in Fergus Falls. Jean was married to Leroy A. Bassett on September 18, 1946. They lived in Fargo after they were married. Jean graduated from the St. John's School of Nursing at St. John's Hospital, Fargo. She worked as a Registered Nurse at St. John's in the E.R., as Nursing Supervisor, and as head nurse on the Orthopedic Wing. Jean was a long time member of Nativity church in Fargo and active in the Nativity choir. She loved to read, enjoyed travel, lake activities, bowling, church activities and her many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Tom ( Colleen) Bassett, Southfield, MI, daughter, Laurie (Jerry) Kadrie, Phoenix, AZ, daughter Barbara Bassett, St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, Brannon (Tara)  Kadrie, Fargo, John (Liz) Bassett, Chevy Chase, MD, Brian (Erika) Bassett, Birmingham, MI, Charles Bassett, Southfield, MI, and Anne (Kadrie) Gonzales, San Antonio, TX; Great Grandchildren, Zachary and William Bassett, Chevy Chase, MD, Ella and Jack and Benjamin Bassett, Birmingham, MI; Andrew James Gonzales, San Antonio, TX; brother, Bob (Vonnie) Baker, Fergus Falls, MN; sister, Mary Jo Kilde, Battle Lake, MN; Nephews, Rick (Annette) Baker, Fergus Falls, David Kilde, Rochester, MN, Donn Baker, Fergus Falls, and Mike (Kathy) Baker, St. Michael, MN; Nieces, Judy Kilde, Rochester, MN, Tracy (Randy) Gullickson, Butler, PA, and Sue Kilde, Fergus Falls; Cousin, Charles (Diane) Engel, Kent, WA.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Bassett, parents, Roy and Inez Baker, and sisters, Kathryn Baker and Helen Lund.

    I remember her as one of the moms that spent time at St. Mary’s when we were in school there. A very special woman. God bless.

    I worked at St. John’s with Jean. One of the great mentors in my nursing career. I had wondered about her these last few years and am sorry I didn’t know where she was. She was a good friend and confidant. She has been greatly missed and always will be. My sincere sympathy to Jean’s family. She was a great lady……
