Jeffrey Soper

jeffrey soper
Jeffrey Scott Soper, 58, of Stockton, CA, suddenly passed from this life to his heavenly home on October 11, 2014. Jeff was born on Aug. 28, 1956 in Detroit, MI to Lou and Donna (Evenstad) Soper. In 1960 the family moved to Fargo where Jeff grew up with his 3 siblings. He graduated from South High School in 1974. He briefly attended ND State College in Wahpeton. In 1979 Jeff ventured to California where his sister Dawn was living with her family. He originally came for a visit, but ended up staying for more than 30 years. He and his brother, Greg, bought a home in Newark, CA and they eventually moved to Stockton, CA. In 1983 while attending the Church of Christ in Hayward, CA, Jeff accepted Jesus as his Savior. Jeff had a deep faith and enthusiastically shared his faith with everyone he met. Jeff worked at various construction jobs until he found his true calling, buying and selling estate items online. He was a true entrepreneur and became an expert in recognizing treasures among the items he purchased. He was often consulted by buyers and sellers all over the U.S. about the value of merchandise. His online business was his passion and he loved meeting people. His generosity was his greatest gift. He would befriend the friendless everywhere he went and any stray animal around the neighborhood soon became his best friend. Jeff was predeceased by his father Lou in 2007. He leaves behind his mother, Donna Soper (Stockton, CA), sister Dawn (Soper) Halverson (Dublin, CA), brothers Greg Soper (Stockton, CA), Brian Soper (Champlin, MN) and sister Laura Berk, East Tawas, MI. He is also survived by two nephews, Aric Halverson, Joshua Halverson, and a niece, Rochelle (Berk) Smith. In addition he leaves behind his uncle Ronald (Diane) Evenstad, cousins Kirk Evenstad, Lisa (Evenstad) Wiley and Susan (Evenstad) Vidaud, (all living in FL) and his aunt Irene Barbour (Detroit, MI). He also leaves behind many friends and extended family throughout the country. Jeff's Celebration of Life memorial will be held Saturday, June 27, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, N.D. His ashes will be interred in a private ceremony at Riverside Cemetery on June 26. If you would like to truly honor Jeff's memory, please make a donation to any shelter in your local area.

  1. The “Soap’s” Ripple-effect
Jeff’so story continues for us all,
His caring influence did not “pass away” last fall.
He connected with us in so many ways,
Through Christ’s work with him, we all join together in praise,
On this, one of the most beautiful of summer days.
Jeff’s story that was told today showed–
The appreciation to him, as of yet, we still owed,
His memory is now ever-more so in our hearts which we hold.
Unselfishly, Jeff learned to always “Do the right thing–”
As, to our lives, our families, our friends, with His blessings to us all, he did bring.
He most suredly earned his angel’s wings!
