Obituary

Joan D. Hartl, 68, Fargo, ND died Tuesday, December, 22, 2009 in the Golden Living Center, rural Battle Lake, MN.

Joan Dianne Herbranson the daughter of Clarence and Beatrice (LaPash) Herbranson was born May 23, 1941 in Moorhead, MN at St. Ansgaard Hospital. She grew up in Fargo graduating from Fargo Central High School in 1959. She began her work at the ticket booth at the Fargo Theater. She married Joseph V. Hartl on June 13, 1959 in St. Mary’s Cathedral in Fargo. The couple made their home in Fargo. Joan held various jobs – a waitress at the Bowler and in house keeping for the Econo Lodge. She also worked in Environmental Services at MeritCare Hospital over 20 years, retiring in 2003.

She was a resident of the Evergreens, before moving with her husband to the Golden Living Center about 2 ½ years ago. Her husband, Joseph died in 2007.

Joan loved shopping, always looking for bargains and sale items. She especially enjoyed the Holidays, time with her grandchildren and lunch engagements with her friends.

Joan is survived by her children, Dan (Jill) Hartl of Fargo; Lance (Claudia) Hartl of Fargo; and Wade (June) Hartl of Dassel, MN; her grandchildren, Tessa, Levi, Hunter, and Mackenzie. She is also survived by her siblings, Jay Herbranson of Phoenix, AZ; Pattie Mykland of Jamestown, ND; Richard (Renee) Herbranson of Fargo and Rory Herbranson of Grand Forks, ND.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her parents; her daughter, Ivy; and siblings, Bonnie, Larry and Terry.

VISITATION: 5 – 7 PM Monday, December 28, 2009 at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo – and also one hour prior to the service in the church on Tuesday

PRAYER SERVICE: 7 PM at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo

FUNERAL MASS: 10:30 AM Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Fargo

BURIAL: Holy Cross North Cemetery in Fargo
