Joan Nelson

Joan T. Nelson, 76, of Fargo, ND passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Villa Maria in Fargo surrounded by family in the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Joan was born on December 23, 1932 to Leonard and Thelma (Seiberg) Iverson in Minneapolis, MN. She attended Bismarck High School graduating in 1951. She married Daryl Nelson in December of 1952. She resided in Driscoll, ND and worked at the State Bank of Burleigh County in Sterling, ND until 1974. She moved to Fargo and worked at the First Trust Company of ND until retirement in 1998. Joan loved to knit, read, visit at the senior center, and watch football. She also enjoyed visiting her lake friends. She is survived by her sons, Steve  Nelson, Bismarck, ND, Gregg (Ruth) Nelson, Fargo; grandchildren; sister, Lynn (Tony) Wanner, Bismarck; long-time companion, Ed Skroch, Fargo; brother-in-law, Wendell Shoberg, Fridley, MN; nieces and nephews, Pamela (Curt) Sorum, Temecula, CA, Julie (Keith) Sties, Coon Rapids, MN, Vickie (Mike) Des Jardine, Northfield, MN, Scott (Sharon) Shoberg, Blaine, MN, and Kurt (Carmen) Shoberg, Andover, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Thelma; stepmother, Martha; and sister, Donna Jean Shoberg. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Red River Valley in memory of Joan.
