John ?Jack? S. Kolbinger, age 77, 1702 11th Street S., Fargo, died Sunday, October 3, 2004, in the Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN, from injuries sustained in a car-pedestrian accident. John Sheldon Kolbinger was born March 25, 1927, in Big Lake, MN, the son of John C. and Bertha B. (Knobbs) Kolbinger. He grew up and graduated from school there. He began working for the Soo Line Railroad in Cardigan Junction, MN, first as a telegrapher and later as a station agent. Upon a friend?s suggestion, John then began training for a career in court reporting. He attended classes at the Minnesota School of Business in Minneapolis during the day, and worked at the railroad station in the evenings. His court reporting skill took him first to Kalispell, Montana, then Bismarck, ND, and Moorhead, MN. He then spent the next 20 years as a court reporter for Cass County District Court in Fargo, retiring from there in 1989. He was united in marriage to Karen F. Metzger on October 31, 1975, at Church of the Nativity, Fargo. He is survived by his wife, Karen of Fargo; one son, Curt of Sanford, FL; one daughter, Marie Lucero of Moorhead, MN; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Marilyn and Norma. The funeral will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. in Church of the Nativity, Fargo. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-7 p.m. in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo. Arrangements by Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo.
