John "Jack" Zelinski

John ?Jack? Zelinski Fargo, North Dakota Jack passed away on February 20, 2007 in Fargo at the age of 84. Jack was born on November 23, 1922, the son of Joe and Mae Zelinski in Fargo. He grew up in Dilworth, MN and graduated from high school in 1940. He joined the Navy in WWII and served in the Pacific Theater on the USS St. Mary?s. He later attended Moorhead State and played football for the Dragons. Jack married Phyllis Annalora of Dilworth and they had two sons, Bruce and Rick. He later married Miriam Gunderson of Buxton, ND and they had two children, Janna and Mike. Jack had a lengthy career with Northern Pacific/Burlington Northern Railroad and one time was the most senior brakeman on the line. He was also an active railway union official and was passionate in his lifelong advocacy for the interest of railroad workers and their families. Jack was an avid sports fan, outdoorsman, and particularly enjoyed hunting for over 40 years in the remote Badlands north of Beach, ND. He played, coached and was a sports fan his entire life. Jack had a great love and pride in his family. He was a hobbiest who was never bored and had a zest for all he did in life. Jack is survived by his children, Bruce Zelinski of Curlew, WA; Rick (Kris) Zelinski of Spokane WA; Janna (Jim) Anderson of North Branch, MN; and Mike Zelinski of Homer, AK; 8 grandchildren; his brother Robert ?Bob? Zelinski of Eldon, MO; and his special friend, Dorothy Walz of Mahnomen, MN. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews. His parents; his brother, Bill; his former wife, Phyllis; and his wife Miriam preceded him in death.
