John Howard Maust, 71, Lisbon, ND, formerly of Horace, ND, died December 7th in Lisbon, ND.
Mr. Maust was born February 26, 1932 in Fargo, ND to Howard and Nora (Walla) Maust. He was a life-long resident of Horace, ND. He attended school in Horace and graduated form West Fargo High School, West Fargo, ND
During the Korean War, he served as Corporal in the US Army, from February 1953 to January of 1955. His training was the 6th Armored Division with the 746 5th Army Unit in Panama. Upon his return from service he lived on and farmed the farm his grandparents Nels and Anna Walla homesteaded. He also worked as a bulldozer operator for Ben Stenberg & Sons of Horace, ND and Western Steel of Fargo, ND
He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post # 0293.
Mr. Maust entered the North Dakota Veterans Home of Lisbon, ND in the fall of 2000. He is survived by one sister Dorothy Showalter, 2 nephews, and one niece, all of Denver, Colorado.
There will be a prayer service at the North Dakota Veterans Home of Lisbon at 10 a.m. Friday. The funeral for Mr. Maust will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Horace Lutheran Church, Horace, ND with burial following at the Horace Cemetery.
