Joyce served as a substitute teacher at the Hillsboro High School and taught full-time in 1969-1970. She was an active member of the WELCA Sarah Circle at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, monthly ladies bridge club, Ladies VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary.
