Julien Clement Joseph Pronovost, 87, returned to his heavenly home on Sept 21, 2017, after a short battle with cancer. His devotion to his family and firm belief in God supported him in his struggles, and ultimately gave him peace to willingly go home to the Lord. Julien was born 09/01/1930 to Joseph and Anna (Rheault) Pronovost in Fargo. He attended school at St. Joseph’s in Wild Rice, ND. Julien worked at American Crystal Sugar in MN for 47 years. He was also a skillful farmer and a devoted family man. His garden was his hobby, and he was proud and happy to share its bounty with the community. Julien is survived by his wife, Margaret (Bernier) whom he was deeply devoted to for 65 years. He was blessed with 4 children. Sons, Larry (Sharon), Ed, Jeff and Daughter Betty (Jeff Dahlin). Six grandchildren Jessica (Eric Pearson), Alissa, Nicholas, Emily, Elizabeth and Joseph and one great grandchild, Summer. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant sister Cecile, sisters Lorraine Lykken, Lucy Fugere, Aldea Tessier, Jeanne Trottier, Margaret Ramsett, Ida Grieger, Marie Fosteson and brothers Henry and Wilfred. Julien was baptized, confirmed, married and will be laid to rest at St. Benedicts, where he was a lifelong parishioner. The prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday September 26 with a visitation starting at 5 p.m. at St. Benedict in Wild Rice. Funeral Mass will begin at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday Sept 27th with a visitation starting at 10 a.m. at St. Benedict in Wild Rice. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations be made to St. Benedict of Wild Rice or Hospice of the Red River Valley.

  1. Dear Margaret, the finest Frenchman I have had the honor of knowing has received his wings, I will miss his humor, how he would answer the phone when I called, how he showed me how to pick vegetables from the
garden, and share gossip. God Bless you all

  2. Dear Aunt Margaret, I am so sorry for your loss. I am praying for peace for you and the love of your children and grand children to carry you through this sad time. The blessing is He is not suffering any longer and you will see him again in Heaven. We love you! Ilene and Jeff Morosetti

  3. Condolences to the Pronovost family. Julian will be dearly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of mourning.

  4. Heaven rejoices as earth grieves. My prayers and sympathy are with Mrs. Pronovost and the family. May Julien rest in peace and bask in the glory of God.

  5. I was so sad to here of Julien’s illness and passing. I’ll never forget how kind and caring he was, helping my family out. We were truly blessed to have him as our uncle.

  6. I loved the video. It was a photo book of Julien’s life. A happy marriage, a wonderful family and a
    fun loving home.
His love for Margaret, his children, their spouses, grandchildren and great grandchild was so evident.
I will remember his gardening skills, and the produce he shared with so many of us.
His legacy will live on through his family. He will be in their hearts forever!

  7. We feel blessed to have known Julien through St Benedicts and for him always being generous and sharing a smile, a quick witted quote, or the bounty of his garden. He will be missed. The video of him and his family is precious. A life well lived and truly loved. God Hold you all in His Tender Care.
