Obituary

June Zander died at Rosewood on Broadway Nursing Home on April 30, 2011, at the age of 87.

June Elizabeth Minnie Progefrock was born on June 24, 1923 in Fesseden, North Dakota, to Ulrich and Esther (Grosberg) Progefrock.  She attended school in Fesseden, ND, and after schooling stayed at home to help out, and started working at Hamburg School as a teacher’s assistant. On October 5, 1942 she was united in marriage to Lloyd Zander in Seattle WA. The couple lived there for 9 months until Lloyd was drafted. June moved home to the family farm near Hamburg. When Lloyd was discharged the couple moved to Fargo, where they raised their family and took care of many foster infants. June worked banquets for the Elks, Townhouse, and Eagles. She volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul for over 20 years. She was a member of Peace Lutheran, and a Life member of VFW and Legion and DAV Auxiliaries.

She is survived by her husband Lloyd; 5 children: Dave (Jeri) Zander of Fargo, Tom Zander of Horace,  Joyce Denis of Fargo, Rod Zander of Fargo, Richard (Cindy) Zander of Hastings, MN; 13 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her parents, sisters Dorothy Slagter and Bernice Voelker, and daughter in law June.

    I was so sorry to see that your mom passed away! I was signing the guestbook for another friend and spotted the last name. You’re such a great guy that I am sure your mom was a saint!     I am so sorry for your loss. June was a kind wonderful sweet person. I remember Dixie and I going over to your house often when we were little and June would give us Cookies. The fun times we all had making those big snow hills to slide down with our sleds those were fun times back then.
