Katherine Ottis

Katherine Lenore Ottis died March 13, 2009 at her home in Moorhead surrounded by her family. Katherine was born on May 26, 1915 to Edwin and Selma (Brakke) Evingson. She graduated from Kindred High School, received a Bachelor?s degree from Concordia in 1937 and taught high school in Minnesota and Iowa. Katherine married Selmer Ottis on October 8, 1950 at Norman Lutheran Church, rural Kindred, ND. Three children were born to the couple. Selmer and Katherine moved to Fargo, ND in 1984, to Riverview Place in 2004, and to Eventide in December, 2007. Survivors include her children Kristi Ireland (John) Hamilton, VA, Barbara Ottis (John B. Weaver) Minneapolis, MN, Mark Ottis (Joan) Kindred, ND; and seven grandchildren: Carrie Briggs (Joshua) Elk Grove, CA, and their son Josiah, Julia Ireland, Staunton, VA, David Ireland, Ashburn, VA, Louisa Ireland, Hamilton, VA, Ryan Ottis, Kindred, ND, Jana Ottis, Kindred, ND, and Matthew Ottis, Kindred, ND. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Selma; husband, Selmer; siblings: Rudolph Evingson and Bergliot Evingson. Visitation will be Monday from 5:30pm to 7pm, with a prayer service at 7pm, in Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. The Funeral will be Tuesday at 10:30 in Kindred Lutheran Church, Kindred, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Kindred Lutheran Church, American Diabetes Association, or charity of the donor?s choice.
