Kent Berlin

kent berlin

Kent R. Berlin, age 52, Fargo, ND, entered his Heavenly home on Saturday, December 27, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.  Kent was born March 27, 1962, in Fargo, ND, to Keith and Marlyce (Strand) Berlin.  He grew up in Moorhead, MN, and attended Moorhead Senior High School.

Kent thoroughly enjoyed his work years doing drywall and sheetrock for Miller and Sons Drywall, Inc., and Bob Nefsger, Fargo, ND.  Kent was a brilliant, witty man with a heart-of-gold and big smile.  He loved outdoors, bike riding and fishing with his children, cooking, reading, computer research, and most of all just being with his loving family and friends.  Known for his abundant love, generosity, sense of humor, strength, and kindness, he will be loved forever and greatly missed by family and friends.

Kent is survived by his children, daughter Macey (Tom) Alden, Sheridan, WY, and sons Kyle and Tanner Belgarde, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Andrew, Jazlyn, Ashlyn, Matilyn, and Dylyn Alden, Sheridan, WY; father, Keith (Jeannine) Berlin, Valley City, ND; siblings, LaVonna (Duffy) Powell, Gary Berlin, Cheryl (Brad) Evenson, Michael Berlin, Kevin (Rochelle) Berlin, and David Berlin, Fargo, ND; and several nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Marlyce (Strand) Berlin, and his brother, Douglas Berlin.

In 1993, Kent became quadriplegic due to a traumatic fall.  Since that time, he’s had a strong desire to find a cure and has donated his body to UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Grand Forks, ND, for research.

Per Kent’s request, there will be no service.  A private family “Celebration of Kent’s Life” will be held.  If desired, please make a donation to UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences, 501 N. Columbia Road, Stop 9037, Grand Forks, ND 58202-9037, or send memorials to his son, Tanner Belgarde, 1910 54th Ave. S., Fargo, ND 58104, or other charities or family members of your choice.  Please share pictures and comments on Kent’s Facebook site.

.My heart goes out to the many friends and family of Kent. He was my friend an neighbor for many years. He was fun to be around, always had a witty remark, fun to play chess with.

I went to see him a few months before he passed away, never would’ve thought he would be leaving us by the way he was talking then? His attitude was always upbeat and positive.

I’ll keep his memory in my heart, and all the good times we had. You will be missed my friend, by so many people, more than you know. Darin

My deepest sympathy to you all at this time of sorrow. Kent is in God’s care now and what better care could we ever ask for him? I pray for your comfort in the days ahead. God bless you and keep you in His tender care and love for all eternity. Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. You all have wonderful memories and Kent wants you to laugh and smile when you think of him.
With all my love and sympathy,

  7. It was hard to find out that Kent had passed away. I knew Kent through my friend Larry who used to be a caregiver for Kent in the 1990’s. Kent had a great positive outlook on everything and always had a smile on his face. He was a joy to talk with and I will miss him! God bless you and keep you Kent. God bless your children also.

  19. Kent… i found out just this evening… 2 years after. I keep re-writing what im trying to say here… I know in my heart youre hearing it all and it makes sense- but trying to put it in words is apparently impossible at this moment. You probably never knew how big of an influence you were (and still are) on my entire perspective of life- an impact that lives still to this day- its in my bones. You are the only person Ive ever known that I admire and respect in your entirety. Youve taught me so much. I learned just as much or more about our place in this world and about truly living by your morals/values… I learned all that by just observing and enjoying so dearly your company. You lived each day to the fullest, and excelled at the ability to truly see the brighter side of absolutely EVERYTHING! You are a lifelong true friend. I had such fun with you- we laughed a lot, shared a puff or more, enjoyed the outdoors- especially on sunny days, joked- oh and did i mention laugh and laugh and laugh together. You enjoyed when id bring my son to see you, cuz he reminded you of yours when they were young- and when my second boy was born I showed up at your door again- tthat was the last time I talked to you. I remember clearly the conversations we had. I loved the fact I hadnt seen you for so long and still knew I would be welcomed coming in unannounced. Im so glad I had went with that urge that day that led me right to the highrise. I will never forget you, i will continue to talk about you and how wonderful you are- and of course the great impact you have made on my life and my chilrens. You are so missed, and loved, and hope youll check in on me every so often- if youd like. Love always and forever, Cynthie
