Kirk David Packwood died suddenly on Monday, September 10 at his home in Fargo, North Dakota. Kirk was an incredibly sweet, gentle man whose often lighthearted personality made for a striking contrast with his considerable height and physique. He enjoyed being playful and irreverent with friends and family, but was also a man of deep compassion and conviction. Kirk had a wide range of interests, among them choral performance, weight training, psychology, movies, and role-playing games. He wrestled with health concerns for much of his adult life, but was remarkably generous and kind to those whom he loved. His loss is as untimely as it is saddening.
Kirk was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota on February 26, 1969 and raised in Iowa City, Iowa; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and Fargo. He was a resident of Fargo-Moorhead for 29 years, attending North High School, Moorhead State University, and North Dakota State University. For many years Kirk was active in the local theater and music community, with leading roles in Trollwood Performing Arts School and Fargo-Moorhead Community Theatre, among others. He held a number of jobs in Fargo, and most recently served as an electronics salesperson at Walmart.
Kirk is survived by his parents, William T. and Virginia M. Packwood; brother and sister-in-law Theodore and Sheila Packwood, and nephews Noah and Evan; and brother and sister-in-law Matthew and Carin Miller Packwood.
Condolences may be sent to the Packwood Family, 3715 Crossridge Way, Rosemount, MN 55068. Donations in memory of Kirk may be sent to the Family HealthCare Center in Fargo, where Kirk served on the Patient Advisory Council: http://www.famhealthcare.org/support/donationsb.html
