Obituary

Larry Lund age 68, of West Fargo North Dakota, died Thursday, February 02, 2012 at Sandford Medical Center in Fargo.

Larry was born November 13, 1943 in Fargo, ND to Floyd and Mildred Lund and resided in Kindred, ND.  He graduated from Kindred High School.  He attended Wahpeton State School of Science and Moorhead State University.  He served his country in the Army from 1966 to 1969 and was deployed to Vietnam in 1968 to 1969.  Following his honorable discharge Larry worked at Frank McKone Cigar Company, Rough Rider Supply, Building Sprinkler Co. before starting his own business, Commercial Insulation and Supply.  Larry retired in 2009.

On July 22, 1966 he married Eileen Swenson in Kindred, ND.  They made their home in West Fargo where they raised their three children.

He enjoyed spending time at the lake with his family, enjoyed visiting with friends in the lake home garage, doing things for his kids and grandkids, golfing, lunch with his friends, card playing, having coffee at the clubhouse and being a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in West Fargo.

Larry is survived by his wife Eileen; son Jeffrey (Angela) Lund, Fort Collins, CO; daughters Jamie Lund, Aurora, CO;  Jill (Brian) Mattson, West Fargo, ND;  four grandsons Tyler & Carter Lund, Caden and Trace Mattson; and sister Paulette (Jimmy) Capps, Elkton, FL.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

He will be remembered always as a man who worked hard and steadfastly to provide for his family of which he was so proud.  He enjoyed bringing laughter to all. In love and gratitude we bid Larry good bye, until we meet again.

Lynda and I will miss Larry forever as he was my very best friend. I will miss the card games, going out to lunch and the many phone calls which one of us would say are you cooking to night and then add lets go out. My golf buddy is gone and my life will never be the same and golf will never be as much fun as we had kidding each other every time we were on the course. Larry touched so may lives in a good way. Our whole family feels so sad to have lost our SPECIAL LARRY. Eileen and family we are very sorry for your loss.
May God give you comfort in your sorrow. Vern – Lynda

What a beautiful service to honor the life of Larry. Everyone that knew Larry treasured their memories of him. Isn’t it something how each person he knew felt they had a “special” relationship with him. That just shows how important he made everyone around him feel. He’s been like a second dad to me since I can remember. I will treasure all the memories I have of him forever. My deepest sympathies to you Eileen, kids and grandkids along with his MANY very special friends.

Huntingtown MarylandLarry lived across the street from my parent’s house in Kindred. We saw each other often and I was lucky enough to also play basketball with him at KHS. 50 years later I saw him at the 1961 class reunion. He looked great, sounded great and was still as funny as ever. Anyone who knew him will miss him. May he rest in peace.

I don’t know Larry’s family but I have known Larry since he first came to the Clubhouse so many years ago. I looked forward to our visits and just this past year I sat in the living room there and we talked for at least an hour.
I will cherish that good memory as he was always so cheerful and so grateful
He told me that day how much he loved his family and his life. I will be at the prayer service tomorow. Love,Hugs & Prayers Jo

    Gonzales LAEileen, Jeff and Family,

I am so gifted to be able to consider Larry a great friend….he and I could talk serious or laugh together….laughter was a gift he was able to share with many.
I will miss him dearly, as will many…..but not as you will miss him. Losing a spouse and father is very difficult. Please know that you are in my deepest thoughts and prayers during this time of loss.
Larry was a great friend….one who I learned from in every contact I had with him. He gave unselfishly to all his friends and loved and respected his family dearly.
