Larry E. Scott was born on Sept. 3, 1942 to Marion (Buck) and Emma (Nelson) Scott of Bismarck, ND. He passed away peacefully at his Scottsdale, AZ home on November 2, 2009 at the age of 67 after a short battle with Creuzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD). He was a loving, faithful, and devoted husband of 46 years to Betty Lou (Offutt). He will be dearly missed by his three sons Tim (Jill), Omaha, NE; Paul (Kshusha) Scottsdale, AZ; Lee (Stacy), Vail, CO and his four grandchildren Jordan, Parker, Megan, and Alexander. Larry graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1960 and attended NDSU, graduating in 1964 with a BS in mathematics. He began his professional life with Lockheed Missiles and Space at Vanderberg A.F.B. in Lompoc, CA. After six years, he returned to North Dakota where he began his John Deere career for RDO Equipment in Casselton. For 36 years he performed key roles within the company retiring in 2008. Larry enjoyed serving on numerous professional and community volunteer boards. Larry cherished special times at the lake with his children and grandchildren, enjoying countless rounds of golf with his Minnesota and Arizona buddies, and sailing with close friends on Pelican Lake. Lasting friendships were also made singing in church choirs (St. Bernard and St. Mary of the Lakes) and traveling abroad. He leaves behind a great legacy of love, generosity, devotion, and kindness. Larry is survived by an extensive family including a sister Carol (Ray) Radke, Dilworth, MN, brother Curtis, Atlanta, GA, brother Myron (Karla), stepmother Sylvia both of Grand Forks, ND, and brother in law Ron (Karen) Offutt, Fargo ND. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at a memorial service on Friday, November 6 at 10 am at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Scottsdale, AZ. The visitation will be from 5-7 pm, Sunday November 8 at Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo, ND with a prayer service at 7. The funeral mass will be at St. Anne and Joachim in Fargo, ND on Monday, November 9 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to the CJD Foundation, Fargo Catholic Schools, Hospice of the Valley, Scottsdale, AZ, and the St. Bernard Catholic Church building fund, Scottsdale, AZ. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday morning, November 9, 2009 at Saints Ann and Joachim Catholic Church, Fargo. There will be a visitation in Boulger Funeral Home from 5:00 to 7:00 Sunday with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Moorhead, Minnesota.
