Lee K. Byars, 60, Fargo passed away Monday, November 18, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.

Lee was born July 29, 1953 at Hillsboro, North Dakota to Ralph and Harriet (Sunderland) Byars. He grew up in Hillsboro, graduating from Hillsboro High School 1971.

Lee married Monica Howatt August 19, 1972 in Ironwood, MI. They made their home in Fargo where Lee worked as a mechanic for 30+ years at Goodyear, K-Mart and Penske. He later worked in property maintenance at Theis & Talle. Lee was a hard worker, working until 2 weeks before his death. His 3 children helped care for him during his final days.

Lee loved spending time with friends and family at both Toad and Little Toad Lake where Lee built what was to be their retirement home. Lee had a special place in his heart for his grandchildren who were the love of his life.

He grew up in a large family, with 6 brothers who were always there for each other.

Lee is survived by his wife of 41 years, Monica; children, Matthew (Amy) Byars, Fargo, ND, Angela Kisser, Fargo, ND, Kevin Byars, Fargo, ND, 4 grandchildren; Dayne, Tatum, Aiden and Riley, brothers; Ronald (Carol) Byars, Florence, AZ, Larry (Barb) Byars, Coon Rapids, MN, Keith (Karen) Byars, Davenport, IA, Charles Byars, Cambridge, MN and Bradley Byars, Ham Lake, MN.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents and brother Rodney Byars.

  2. Fargo Lee was one of the best…I worked with him for a number of years at Thies and Talle. One of the most reliable/knowledgeable guys I knew. I just heard of his passing last night…and have been thinking about him all day. That smile (when you caught it) was the most genuine smile.
    My thoughts and prayers to all of Lee’s family and friends…it was an absolute pleasure to know him.

  5. Although I did not know Lee well myself, I do know that he was highly thought of by everyone at Thies & Talle Management. He was here personally to help our maintenance team and there on the other end of the phone to give his advice when needed. The thoughts and prayers of everyone at Thies & Talle Fergus Falls are with Lee’s family.
