Leonard passed away on Friday, September 18, 2015 at Rosewood on Broadway, in Fargo, surrounded by his loving family. Leonard was born on January 21, 1928 at Wellsburg, ND, the son of Henry and Ludwina Ganje. He moved as a child with his parents to Harvey, ND where he attended school. He graduated from High School in 1947. Leonard was united in marriage to Mavis Petsinger on August 12, 1950 at Leeds, ND. He served as a Sergeant with the Unites States Army in Korea during the Korean War from 1950 until his discharge in 1951. Leonard worked as a barber in Devils Lake, Leeds and Fargo for over 20 years. He was also employed with Moorhead State University for 19 years, retiring in 1993. His beloved wife, Mavis, passed away on January 25, 2014. Leonard was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He enjoyed his family and was very proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. I was a lucky man, he would say, very lucky. Leonard shared a very special birthday with his great-grandson, Jake. Leonard is survived by his children, Diana (Ron) Dow of Fargo; Sheila (Roy) Thompson of Buffalo, ND; Jeffrey (Janice) Ganje of Fargo; Terry (Becky) Ganje of Reiles Acres, ND; and Larry (Jane) Ganje of Fargo; his 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sisters, Marie Feldman and Leona (Wesley) Feickert. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mavis; his brothers – Ed, Carl and Pius; and his sisters – Monica, Marcella and Angeline.
