Leonard's Live Streamed Funeral Service can be viewed below: https://vimeo.com/event/723950 Leonard Paul Marquardt, 94, West Fargo passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2021 at Bethany Retirement Living, Fargo. Leonard was born on November 27, 1926 in Traverse County, Minnesota on the farm to Paul and Tillie (Meyer) Marquardt. He was baptized on December 12, 1926 in Taylor Township. And confirmed in Tenney, Minnesota at Munson Lutheran Church on June 22, 1941. He attended rural grade school in Taylor Township before graduating from Fairmont High School in 1944. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1945 and served in WWII. He was stationed at Great Lakes Naval Base in California. He married Shirley Nulph on October 5, 1952 at Wyndmere Lutheran Church, Wyndmere, North Dakota. Leonard and Shirley built their lake cabin in 1972 on West Lost lake. Summers there were Leonard's pride and joy and the tradition continues on with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Leonard enjoyed hunting, fishing and planting the garden. He worked for Twin City Roofing in Wahpeton for 42 years. He worked for SunMart as a Carry Out assister for 10 years. He was a member of the American Legion in Wahpeton, North Dakota for 60+ years. He enjoyed going hunting, fishing and planting his garden. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Shirley, West Fargo, ND; children, Sheila (James) Meyer, Fargo, ND, Brad Marquardt, Springdale, PA, Kristie Wyffels, Moorhead, MN, Cory (Tammy) Marquardt, West Fargo, ND; 9 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; 4 nephews, Eugene (Jean) Marquardt, Boring, OR, Jim (Sally) Ahlsten, Santa Rosa, CA, Gary Ahlsten, Wheaton, MN and Rod (Lori) Ahlsten, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Herbert, infant brother, sister, Ella, 2 sons-in-law, Craig Bohn and Allan Wyffels and infant grandchild, Nathan Meyer.
