Leroy Gorder, 67, Arthur, ND, died Tuesday, August 12, 2003, at his home in Arthur, ND. Leroy Vern Gorder, son of Elmer and Lena (Hettich) Gorder, was born June 11, 1936, in McIntosh, SD. When he was four years old, the family moved to Clifford, ND, where he grew up and attended school. When he was just 13 years old, Lee began working for area farmers in the Clifford, ND, area. He was also involved in the construction of the Garrison Dam, living in Riverdale at that time. He graduated from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. He entered the Army in 1959 and was discharged in 1965. He remained in the Army Reserves as a LTC until his retirement. Leroy married Ginger Watt in Pittsburg, PA, in 1961. They lived in the Pittsburg and Erie, PA, area for a time. Leroy then moved to the Santa Clara, CA, area and worked mainly as a tax accountant until 2000, when he retired and moved to Arthur, ND. Leroy is survived by four children, all living in Florida, Cynthia (Dale) Goembel, David Watt, Robert (Michelle) Watt, Todd (Sheri) Watt; nine grandchildren; two brothers, Ronald, Phoenix, AZ, and Larry, Worthington, MN; three sisters, Marleen Burchill, Hunter, ND, Virginia Satrom, Galesburg, ND, and Gloria Dickerson, Colorado Springs, CO. He was preceded in death by his parents. Private family services will be held in Wildeman Funeral Home, Hillsboro. Arrangements by Wildeman Funeral Home, Hillsboro.
