Lester P. Freyholtz, 79, Fargo, died on Friday, August 4, 2006 surrounded by his loving family at Palliative Care Unit at MeritCare South University in Fargo, ND under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Lester was born on June 8, 1927 in Fairfax, MN to Otto and Amanda (Eggers) Freyholtz. He attended school in Fosston, MN. He helped on the family farm until entering the Army in December of 1952 serving overseas during the Korean Conflict. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Korean Service Medal with one Bronze Service Star, Combat Infantry Badge, United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation. He married Rosella Wilt in 1955. Two children were born to this union: Joanne and Larry. He married Eyvone Schweigert in 1976 in Fargo, ND. He was employed by Fargo Glass as a glazer. He retired from there in 1989. He was a member of the Fargo VFW, the American Legion, and Teamsters #116. He liked fishing, hunting, woodworking, and old-time music.
Lester is survived by his wife, Eyvone; two children: Joanne Lemley (Arden) West Fargo, ND, Larry Freyholtz (Brenda) Fargo, ND; three stepchildren: Wanita Gilbert (Dave) Moorhead, MN, Bruce Irion, Fargo, ND, Bill Irion (Stacey) Fargo, ND; three granddaughters: Jackie Gilbert, Jennifer Quam (Matt), Jessica Gilbert; one great granddaughter: Andrea Quam; one brother: Wilbert Freyholtz (Florence) Coon Rapis, MN; four sisters: Ramona Evenson, Arlington, MN, Deloris Somdalen (Melford ?Miff?) Lengby, MN, and Mildred Hextell (Dale) Lengby, MN, Alpha (Julean) Evenson, Gibbons, MN.
He is preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Roy, Milton, Vernon, and Earl.
Visitation: Tuesday, August 8, 2006 from 6-8 pm at Plymouth Congregational Church, Fargo, ND with a prayer service at 8 pm.
Funeral: Wednesday, August 9, 2006, 11am at Plymouth Congregational Church, Fargo, ND.
Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND
