Lester L. Engen, 73, Fargo passed away Thursday, July 25, 2013 at Sanford Health, Fargo.

Les was born August 4, 1939 in Wadena, MN to Johnny and Agnes (Moench) Engen. Les grew up in Wadena County before moving to Fargo. He enlisted in U.S. Marine Corp. He was stationed in Okinawa, Laos and Barstow, CA.  He was honorably discharged on January 28, 1964. Upon his discharge, he moved back to Fargo where he worked for Fargo Laundry. He married Janice Kind on August 11, 1962 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Moorhead MN. They made their home in Fargo before moving to Wisconsin where Les worked as a welder at various companies. Les and Janice moved back to Fargo in 1974 where Les began working for Steiger Tractor, now Case IH.

He loved to spend time with his grandkids, playing chess and checkers and drawing with them. He enjoyed singing, especially his country and western music, car races and listening to baseball games on the radio.

Les is survived by his wife of almost 51 years, Janice, Fargo; 4 sons, Dean (Donna) Engen, Canyon Lake, TX, Scott (Annette) Engen, Fargo, Todd Engen, Bismarck, and Ryan Engen, Moorhead; 6 grandchildren, Whitney, Samantha, Addy, Janelle, Constance and Dominic, 1 great-grandchild, Sofeya; and sister, Effie Walker, Mapleton, ND.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Wayne Engen and sister, Ortance “Peggy” Kacer.
