Funeral Service for Lester Severance will be held 2 PM Monday at the Hillsboro United Parish UCC-UMC Church. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 5 - 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM in the church. Visitation will also be one hour prior to the funeral in the church on Monday. Burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery in Hillsboro. Lester died on Thursday, February 6, 2003, at the Hillsboro Medical Center Hospital at the age of 86. Lester was born on January 11, 1917, in Jackson, Michigan, the son of Orson and Florence (Bennet) Severance. He grew up in this area and attended school. Les obtained his pilot's and mechanics certificates and began working for the FAA. He worked in Illinois, Wisconsin, North Dakota and lastly in Montana where he retired as Chief of the FAA General Aviation District Office. Les then worked for UND Aerospace Sciences in Grand Forks. Lester was united in marriage to Joyce Moe on June 30, 1969. During retirement years they enjoyed spending time in the southern states in their RV. Les was a veteran on the United States Airforce serving during WWII in North Africa. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Clara; and his sister, Ruth. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce of Hillsboro; and his family, Jean (Don) Bullock of Cody, Wyoming - grandsons, Steve and Bill; David Sether of Nielsville, Minnesota - grandson, David; Corrine (Richard) Pearson of Waupaca, Wisconsin - grandson Michael; Julie (Kenneth) Monson of Reynolds, North Dakota - granddaughter Lisa; and Lorry (Marc) Parriman of Helena, Montana - grandsons, Willy and Lucas; and 4 great grandsons.
