Lillian was born on June 28th, 1922 in Fargo, ND, and grew up and attended school in Wyndmere and Kindred, ND, graduating from Kindred High School in 1940. She then worked for Armour and Co. and Welu Dental Labs, both of Fargo. Lillian married Melvin O. Anderson at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, MN on March 17th, 1945. During WWII, Lillian helped the war effort by working at a Portland, OR, shipyard. In addition to helping with the family farm at Kindred, Lillian spent several winters with Melvin and her 2 sons, Michael and Steven, working in Portland, OR.

Lillian loved spending weekend time at MN lakes in the summers and traveling west to California, Arizona, and Nevada in the winters. She was very active at Norman Lutheran Church, Kindred, teaching Sunday school, singing in choir, preparing and serving many meals, serving on boards and chaperoning Luther League events, including a bus trip to the National Luther League Convention in Detroit, MI.

Melvin and Lillian lived on the farm at Kindred until the fall of 2008 when they moved to West Fargo, ND. She is survived by her husband of 66 ½ years, Melvin; her sons, Michael (Sharon), Phoenix, AZ; Steven (Christa), Moorhead, MN; grandchildren, Ryan Anderson, Portland, OR; Aaron (Jenny Untiedt) Anderson, Paradise Valley, AZ; Courtney (Nate) Buth, Fargo, ND; Allison Lesmeister, Pasadena, CA; great-grandchildren, Garrett Anderson (Ryan) and Brynn Anderson (Aaron); nieces and nephews; Nancy (Jerry) Winters, Portland, OR, and Robert Ballestad, West Fargo, ND.
