Lloyd Walberg

lloyd walberg

Lloyd passed away on Monday, August 11, 2014 at ManorCare in Fargo surrounded by his loving family.

Lloyd was born on October 6, 1926, the son of Albert and Charlotte (Jorgensen) Walberg on the family farm near Walcott, ND. He grew up in this area and attended rural school in Viking Township, graduating from Colfax High School in 1944. Lloyd proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII. Following his discharge he returned to the family farm and began farming with his father. Lloyd was united in marriage to Marion Trove on December 27, 1949 at Viking Lutheran Church. They made their home on the farm where they farmed and raised their family. During the 1960’s Lloyd began working at Yonker’s in Fargo and later worked for the Colfax Fertilizer Plant, retiring in 1988.

Upon retirement, Lloyd continued his love of gardening producing many bountiful harvests which he generously shared with friends and family.  It was also during this time that Lloyd pursued his passion for woodworking.  He created and built many treasured keepsakes of small wooden boxes, child-sized tables and stools, small trunks, wooden cedar chests, cabinets and many other items which were regularly gifted to his children, grandchildren, and often any others who may have admired his work!

Lloyd is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years, Marion of Fargo; his daughters, Stephanie (Darrel) Liedahl of McLeod, ND; and Jill (Tom) Solhjem of Fort Bragg, NC; his son, Carl Walberg of Fargo; and his daughter in law, Elizabeth Walberg of Leonard, ND.  Also surviving are his grandchildren – Cari (Lance) Luchau, Jennifer (Mike) Carr, Christopher (Sarah) Walberg, Jessica (Greg) Stevens, Benjamin (Laurie) Solhjem, Jon Liedahl, Thad (Deanna) Solhjem, Samuel Solhjem, and Elizabeth (Andrew) Gustafson; his 17 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson; his sister, Erma (Merland) Hendrickson of rural Colfax, ND; and his sister-in-law, Elaine Walberg of Calhan, CO.
