Lois Alderman

Lois Alderman, 75, West Fargo, N.D., died Tuesday at Rosewood on Broadway.
Lois Ann (Durler) Alderman was born August 14, 1938 to Hector and Vera (Williams) Durler in rural Ransom County. Lois attended school in Stenford Township and later Graduated from Lisbon High School in 1956. In June of 1956 Lois went to work at Northrup King Co. in Moorhead MN. and worked there for 10 years. During this time she met and married Lowell Alderman. They had three children: Shane, Ryan and Erin. Lois was a stay at home mom while raising her children. Later she returned to work at Northrup King, Agri-pro and SeedTech. In 1991 Lois went to work for St John’s Hospital and later Dakota Heartland Hospital and Meritcare Hospital. She retired in 2007.
Lois was incredibly proud of her grandchildren and continuously encouraged and spoiled them. Lois always loved being with her grandchildren and attending their school and athletic activities. Lois was a great baker and was often known to bake pies, brownies or cookies so that she could share them with her grandkids. Lois was blessed with great friends and enjoyed spending time with them playing cards, having lunch and visiting with them. She took great pride in keeping in touch with her friends and in knowing what was going on in their families’ lives. Lois enjoyed spending her summers at Redhawks baseball games with Lowell and her family and all of the great fans in section I. Lois was also able to spend some time traveling with family and friends, making trips to Orlando, Arizona, the Boston area, New York, Great Britain and Ireland.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband Lowell, parents, and her brother Howard. She is survived by her three children: Shane (Laura) Alderman and grandchildren Dylan and Emily; Ryan (June Forde) Alderman and grandchildren Alexis, Lucas, Isaac and Sabrina; and Erin (Kevin) Pietsch and grandchildren Matthew and Reagan. She is also survived by her sisters Gail (Paul) Olich; Judy (Les) Wheeler; brother-in-law Ralph (Bea) Alderman and sister-in-law Florence (Lee) Hans.

So sorry to hear of the loss of you mom. Not sure you remember us kids but your mom and Vonnie lived with us in Dilworth when we were kids. They both were very special friends to our mom and dad. Again so very sorry.

Lois and you, the family, will be in my prayers. I knew Lois at high school. We
had some good times including hair coloring, which was unheard of then. Just to let you know she was always fun, kind and an all around grand person. I am so sorry I can not attend the services. She was a beautiful lady.

I am so surprised and saddened over your mother’s passing. We were backyard neighbors on 22nd Ave/23rd Ave. We used to always ‘hang out at the fence’ and visit. I think we were the only families in North Fargo that still used a clothesline. Lois always updated me on all the grandkids, she was so proud of them. Your parents were ALWAYS so friendly and so approachable.
At this time of tremendous loss, please know that while there is a physical seperation, the love is never lost!
