She attended one year at Gustavus Adophus College in St. Peter, MN, where she sang in the choir. On July 21, 1951 she was united in marriage to Ray Abentroth of Cummings, ND. There they farmed and raised their two children. In 2009 they moved from the farm to a duplex in Hillsboro, ND, and later to Assisted Living at Hillsboro Medical Center. Lorraine spent the last 2 ½ years of her life in the nursing home wing of the Medical Center with Ray spending every day with her in her room. Lorraine was a member and involved in many activities at Hillsboro United Parish and other community organizations. She sang with the Inspirations (a community choir) and in the church choir and numerous solos in church, weddings and funerals. Her hobbies included oil painting and rosemaling. 3. Lorraine was one of the most wonderful people I have ever known. She was so genuine, thoughtful, and willing to serve her Lord, family, and friends. She faithfully served the United Parish singing, teaching Sunday School, and in the women’s groups. Lorraine was always there when someone needed her. God bless our memories of this very special lady!

  4. Lorraine was a grand lady who served her family, church, and community with style and grace. She and her dear husband Ray were always so kind and gracious to me when I visited them as their pastor. Her reputation of serving her church were legend. Those who knew her and the way she contributed to the life of Hillsboro United Parish always were in praise of her talents and service to the church. Now she can join the heavenly choir in praise of God!

  5. My sympathy to Ray and his family. It’s been a long time since I saw Lorraine, but I, too, sang in the Inspirations for about 10 years. Lorraine was such a nice. thoughtful lady.. May she rest in peace.
