Louis Pokrzywinski, age 70, died Tuesday, January 8, 2008 at the Palliative Care Unit of MeritCare Hospital, Fargo.
Louis Joseph Pokrzywinski was born December 15, 1937 to John and Margaret (Dauksavage) Pokrzywinski in Oslo, MN. He worked on farms, and with his father on government granaries in Argyle, MN. He later worked road construction in Drayton and Fargo, ND until taking a job at the Siouxland Packing House where he was employed for 6 ? years. He married Faye Francis Knutson on October 20, 1962. He then began working for Peterson Concrete in West Fargo, ND until taking a custodial position at Elim Lutheran Church in Fargo where he remained for 17 ? years. Louie enjoyed spending time with his wife, Faye going to the Teamsters to dance and visit with friends. He was a master when it came to gardening, and he loved to fish. He found great joy spending time with his 4 grandchildren, joking around, telling stories, making his famous strawberry malts, and caring for his cat Bambi.
Louis is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Faye; 2 sons and their families, Donny Pokrzywinski and his son Zach, of Fargo; Dennis and Cynde Pokrzywinski and their children Ryan, Kyle and Tessa; sisters Alice Kostrzewski, Loretta Kostrzewiski, Sarah Lindeman, Geraldine (Raphael) Topka, all of Argyle MN, Dorothy (Thomas) Stancyk of Hemet, CA; brothers, Alex Pokrzywinski of La Crosse, WI, Peter (Lola) Pokrzywinski, Chester (Alice) Pokrzywinski of Argyle, MN, Leonard (Irene) Pokrzywinski of Onanie, MN; several cousins, nieces and nephews, as well as his cat Bambi.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Julian.
