Lucille Brakke

Anna Lucille Brakke, 89, died Saturday, December 6, 2003 at the Hillsboro Nursing Home. She was born March 11th, 1914 in Calvin, ND, to Peter and Anna (Keeney) Thoreson. She was raised in the Calvin area and later moved to Devils Lake with her family. It was there that she met her future husband, Nels Brakke. They were married February 20th, 1936 in New Rockford, ND. In 1937, they moved to Hillsboro where Nels owned and operated Brakke?s Rexall Drug. Lucille worked at home raising their three children. Nels died July 7th, 1987. Lucille belonged to Our Savior?s Lutheran Church, a local Bridge club and Birthday Club. She enjoyed golfing, crossword puzzles, gardening, and card games, and took particular delight in her eight grandchildren. She entered the Hillsboro Nursing Home in October of 1999. Lucille is survived by her sons, Brad (Georgia) Brakke, Carmel, IN, and Jon (Sharon) Brakke, Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Paul (Lalitha) Brakke, Kristen (Paul) Ziegler, and Karen Brakke, Anne (Mark) Renstrom, Jennifer Brose, Tim Brose, and Jeff (Niki) Brose; great-grandchildren, Krishnen and Erik; Laura and Steven; Franklin and Joey; Luke; and Cole; one brother, Sam (Virginia) Thoreson, Roswell, NM; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Barbara; grandson, Peter Brakke; great-grandson, Kellyn Brose; sister, Marge Stephens; and brothers, Peter and Brad Thoreson. Funeral: 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Our Savior?s Lutheran Church, Hillsboro, ND Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Hillsboro, ND Visitation: Wednesday 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Wildeman Funeral Home, Hillsboro.
