Mamie Nygaard

Mamie Nygaard Hillsboro, North Dakota Mamie passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at the Hillsboro Medical Center Hospital at the age of 101. Mamie Jerdee was born on August 8, 1903, the daughter of Andrew and Ingeborg (Lerdahl) Jerdee, in Sun Prairie, WI. She moved with her family at an early age to Enderlin, ND, where she grew up and received her education. Mamie graduated from Enderlin High School in 1921, and began attending college in Jamestown, ND. After her graduation she taught school in the Jamestown area. Mamie was united in marriage to Peter Nygaard on August 18, 1924, in Enderlin. They made their home in Enderlin where they raised their family. Peter passed away in 1973. In 1974, Mamie moved to Moorhead, MN, where she lived until moving to Hillsboro in 2000. Mamie entered the Hillsboro Medical Center Nursing Home in October of 2001, and has resided there until her death. Mamie was an active church member at 1st Lutheran Church in Enderlin and later a member at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. Mamie is survived by her son, Peter Nygaard of Fargo, ND; her daughters, Marilynn Stangler of Enderlin; LaVerle (Clint) Erbstoesser of Hunter, ND; and Mary (Charles) Hanson of Hillsboro; 9 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. Mamie was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; and her granddaughter, Patty Berndt.
