Margaret Larson

Margaret Mary Larson, 86, passed away January 10, 2022 at her home in Edgeley, ND.
Margaret was born July 26, 1935 to George and Mary (Patalas) Adams in Bottineau, ND. She grew up in Oakes, ND, and graduated there from high school. Margaret earned a Bachelor’s degree at State Teachers College in Ellendale, ND and a Master’s degree at Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. Margaret taught one year in a country school and taught first grade in Edgeley for over 30 years. She was a board member of the North Dakota Education Association and earned her Master Gardener certification from NDSU after she retired from teaching. Margaret enjoyed sewing, reading, baking, and gardening.
Margaret married Robert Larson on July 26, 1953. They moved to Edgeley, ND and raised seven children there. She was an active partner in Larson Contracting and on the Rocking L Ranch.
Margaret is survived by her children, Linda (Andy Lindberg) Larson of St. Paul, MN, Barbara (Wayne) Buss of Yankton, SD, Richard (Maribeth) Larson of Fayetteville, GA, Edward (Loni) Larson of Fargo, ND, Mary Korth of FL, Donald (Bonnie) Larson of Sanborn, ND; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; brother, Daniel Adams; sisters-in-law, Patricia Adams and Gayle Schuck; and many nieces and nephews.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Larson; daughter, Dr. Joanne Larson; infant great granddaughter, Zoe, and son-in-law, Larry Korth.
A funeral mass is at 11:00 AM Saturday, February 5, 2022 at the Catholic Church of Transfiguration, Edgeley, ND. Visitation is one hour prior to services. Burial will take place at a later date at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan.

Our condolences. I always enjoyed visiting with your mom.
I proudly served with Margaret on the NDEA Board of Directors. She was a consummate dedicated professional educator and a champion of public education. I thoroughly enjoyed my conversations and interactions with Margaret. She was kind, soft spoken, considerate, and had a subtle sense of humor. I remember her with fondness! Rest In Peace, Margaret, and I know you will be the guardian angel for students in schools today who face a myriad of challenges.

Dear Barb and Lin, oh! the memories we share!! I will be forever thankful for you two in my life from before kindergarten and on. Your folks always made me feel like I was a member of the family. If mom and dad didn’t find me at home they figured I was at the skating rink with you, the pool, at your house, or riding bike, or maybe cleaning your room! I had no idea your dad and Joanie had passed. Thanks be to God as we will all be in eternity with Him.

My sympathies to Margarett’s family. I will treasure the fond memories of teaching with Your mom at Edgeley. She had great patience, sound advice, and she loved her students as together they built a sturdy foundation in education. I’m so lucky to have had her as a friend and college.
