Marian Bauer

Marian Bauer, 89, Fargo, died Thursday, March 22, 2007 at Villa Maria, Fargo. Marian ?Marianna? Barbara Schmitt was born to Anton and Francis (Beatch) Schmitt on January 16, 1918 in Napoleon, ND. After completing her schooling she moved to Fargo, ND at about the age of 18. She started out as a housekeeper in a private home. She began working at Red Owl Store on Broadway and worked for the company off and on until her retirement in 1974. She married Bennie Bauer in 1946 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church in Fargo, ND. Bennie died in 1975. After retirement, Marian did child care and worked at Villa Maria as a medical transport person. Marian is a member of Nativity Church, American Legion Auxiliary, VFW Auxiliary, and was a member of the Teamsters Union throughout her working years. She enjoyed bingo and bowling in her retirement. She is survived by her children, Patricia Esther Hastings, Rochester, MN, Allen Robert (Cheryl) Bauer, Fargo, ND, Rebecca Jane Torkildson, Fargo, ND, Brenda Ann (Mike) Kowalski, Dilworth, MN; 9 grandchildren, Joseph Hastings, Grove City, MN, Shannon (Pat) Crofton, West Concord, MN, Rachelle (Pat) Martini, New Hope, MN, Kara Bauer, New York City, NY, Kevin Bauer, Fargo, ND, Laura (Bryan) Femrite, Kensington, MN, Kelly Torkildson, Moorhead, MN, Jared Kowalski, Dilworth, MN, and Lee Kowalski, Dilworth, MN; 7 great grandchildren, Anthony, Joshua, Shane, and Benjamin Crofton; Megan, Chloe, and Joshua Martini; 1 great great grandson, Bradley Joseph Tischer; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Hopfensperger and Angeline Krumrai, both Appleton, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her brothers, Mike Schmitt, Jake Schmitt, William Schmitt, Jerome Schmitt, Tony Schmitt, Joseph Schmitt; and her sisters, Phyllis Priest, Deloris Kock, Helen Wambach.
