Marilyn Kay Lane, 75, Fargo, ND passed away on Friday, January 15, 2016 at Bethany on 42nd. She was born on September 30, 1940 to Myrtle (Klaus) and Howard Lane of Colesburg, IA. Marilyn grew up in Colesburg and graduated from Colesburg High School in 1958. She then attended Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI) in Cedar Falls, IA. After college, she was employed by the Telegraph Herald in Dubuque, IA. She then moved to Davenport, IA and worked for WOC TV. Later she worked in various editorial capacities at the Times Democrat, the Rock Island Argus and The Moline Dispatch. She loved writing and received several awards. She also loved the arts. Upon retirement, Marilyn moved to Fargo to be near her sister. Marilyn is survived by her sister, Charlotte (Ken) Meester, Fargo; niece, Kendra (Ross) Nubson, West Fargo; nephew, Brent (Holly) Meester, Fargo; and several great nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents. At her request, her body is being donated to the Dept. of Anatomy and Cell Biology at The University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Memorials preferred to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, Knollbrook Covenenat Church, or Hospice of the Red River Valley, 1701 38th St. S., Suite 101, Fargo, ND 58103. Celebration of Marilyn’s Life: 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Knollbrook Covenant Church, Fargo.

  1. Ken and Charlotte, Sorry to learn about your sister passing away. Hopefully she didn’t have to suffer too much and nice she moved to your area so you could be with her.
    Ken, its been a long time since we have talked. We moved to Dilworth from Twin Valley in fall of 2007. . We lost our beloved LLoyd Jan. 4 in 2015 so I have been getting used to being alone.
    So Marilyn had MS – I have a nephew in Parkersburg with MS too, has had it for many years, he will be 58 in May. That disease is no fun to see someone suffer with.
