Marjorie Stegge Iverson, 94, passed into God’s hands on January 11, 2021. She was born on September 23, 1926, in Fargo, North Dakota to Raymond Stegge and Cecelia Griffin. Marge attended St. Anthony’s Catholic Grade School and graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in 1944. She then attended St. John School of Nursing and was in the last class of nurses training during WWII. After graduating, Marge immediately went into Pediatric Nursing, spending two years at St. John’s Hospital, and then forty years at the Fargo Clinic – Merit Care before retiring in 1990. During her forty years at the Fargo Clinic, Marge held various nursing positions. She began as a staff nurse in Pediatrics department in 1949 and became the nursing supervisor of the Pediatrics department. In 1969, she became the Personnel and Nursing Director of the Fargo Clinic. In 1976, Marge was promoted to Director of Nursing /Inservice at the Fargo Clinic. At that time, she was the only Director of Nursing at a clinic in the state of ND. She held that position until her retirement in 1990. Marge lived through and worked helping those afflicted by the polio epidemic in the late 1940’s. She was also involved in helping those affected by the Fargo tornado of 1957. Marge was an active member of various organizations, including F-M Quota Service Club, F-M Heart Health Professional Committee, F-M Area Health Education Association. She was very active in the Gate City Nurses Association and received the honor of being the “Nurse of the Year” in 1984. Marge was an active golfer at Edgewood Golf course in Fargo. She was also an avid bridge player and played in several groups. On May 28th, 1994, Marjorie was united in marriage to Ernest Iverson. They travelled together and took cruises to many places, including Alaska, Canada, and the good old USA as well. Marjorie was a devout catholic and was a member at St. Mary’s, St. Anthony’s, and Nativity Catholic Churches. She was an important and loved member of her congregation and participated in many church activities until her declining health prevented her from continuing. Marjorie was preceded in death by her mother Cecelia, her father Ray, and her sisters Francis and Beverly. Marjorie is survived by her husband Ernie Iverson. A funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday June 30, 2021, at Nativity Catholic Church. Memorials are preferred to Emergency Food Pantry.   2. Ernie my heart breaks right now. I’ve done Margies hair for years and she was such an amazing person. We had many talks and laughs together and I am so sad to hear this. My thoughts and prayers are with you Ernie!
