Marlene Kay Rotvold, 70, of Fargo, North Dakota, died Sunday, January 24, 2010, at Manorcare, Fargo, North Dakota. She was born on September 28, 1939 in Fergus Falls to Helmer and Myrtle (Pederson) Bjerke. She moved to Hillsboro, North Dakota with her parents and brothers in 1942. Marlene grew up in Hillsboro and graduated from Hillsboro High School in 1957. She went to Mayville College and then taught at Eldorado township school and Halstad, Minnesota. She married Ronald E. Rotvold on September 5, 1959 in Hillsboro, North Dakota. She directed the junior choir at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Hillsboro. She was music director for the choir for the summer musicals. She also sold Tupperware for a number of years. Marlene was secretary at Our Saviors Church in Hillsboro. After she and Ron moved to Fargo in 1991, she started work as a secretary at Hope Lutheran Church. She belonged to the VFW Auxiliary and Sons of Norway. Marlene is survived by her husband of 50 years, Ronald, daughter Kristi (Bob Pullen) Rotvold, Fargo, ND and son Greg (Shannon) Rotvold, Indianapolis, IN; three grandchildren, Meghan, Sami and Jakob. She is also survived by three brothers, Helmer Lee (Joyce) Bjerke, Dallas (Irene) Bjerke and Wayne (Maureen) Bjerke. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother and sister-in-law, Reuben and Gloria Bjerke. Memorials are preferred to be given to the Parkinson’s Support Group at Trinity Lutheran Church, Heart Springs program at Messiah Lutheran Church or Hope Lutheran Church. Visitation will be Thursday, January 28, 5 – 7 p.m. at Boulger Funeral Home in Fargo with a short service at 6:30 p.m. The Funeral will be Friday, January 29, 2 p.m. at Hope Lutheran Church – North with visitation beginning at 1 p.m..
