Marvin passed away on Monday, March 14, 2005 at the Veteran?s Administration Hospital in Fargo at the age of 69. Marvin was born on May 13, 1935, the son of Berthold and Lena (Mergenthal) Dux, in Hillsboro, ND. He grew up in this area and attended school until the 8th grade. He moved with his family in 1948 to Moorhead, MN, where he graduated from High School. After graduation he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1954 until 1957. After his discharge he made his home in Moorhead. Marvin was united in marriage to Sharon Thiessen on May 18, 1957 in Moorhead. Together they made their home in Moorhead where they began raising their family. In 1958, they moved to the East Coast where they lived until returning to Minnesota in the Fall of 1966, making their home in Lake Park. They moved to Hillsboro, ND, in 1976 and lived there until moving to Fargo in 1985. Marvin worked most of his career as a Heavy Equipment Operator for various companies. Prior to his retirement, he worked for Doyle?s Yellow Checker Cab Company in Fargo for a number of years. Marvin greatly enjoyed the many friendships and hours of visiting this job brought him. He most recently has made his home at Manorcare in Fargo. Marvin was a loving father and grandfather and will be missed by all of his family and many friends. He greatly enjoyed spending time visiting with family, neighbors, and acquaintances. He was a great story teller and loved reminiscing about past days, as well as spending time at the lake fishing. Marvin will be remembered for his fondness for gardening and his ability to grow almost anything, especially tomato plants. Surviving are his children, Kevin (Sandy) Dux of Detroit Lakes, MN; Kim (Bill) LaFleur of Gold Canyon, AZ; Kyle (Jacqie) Dux of Richville, MN; and Kurtis (Tracy) Dux of Fargo, ND; seven grandchildren; and two brothers, Leon and Arthur Dux. He was preceded in death by his parents.
