Mary D. Brehmer, 89, Fargo, formerly of Wales, ND, died Friday, May 2, 2003. She was a resident at the Rosewood on Broadway nursing home after suffering a stroke in November 2002. She and her husband farmed near Wales, ND. Mary Dorothy Busch was born September 26, 1913, to Fred and Rosa (Berning) Busch on the family farm near Berlin, ND, in LaMoure County. She graduated from Berlin High School in 1932. After high school she worked as a licensed hairdresser in Fargo and Montana. She attended and graduated from Valley City Teachers College in 1942. She started her 25-year teaching career in one-room country schoolhouses in northeastern North Dakota. All of her children were taught by her in elementary school. She retired from the Hannah, ND, School District in 1976. She married Allen G. Brehmer in 1947. They farmed near Wales, ND. He died in 1996. She was the leader of the Wales ?Hula Hoopers? 4-H Club for 10 years, a member of the Friendship Homemakers Club, and served on the Senior Citizen?s Committee of Cavalier County for five years. Mary will be remembered for her love of life, her ready smile, and gift of laughter which she passed on to her children. Mary is survived by seven children: Ellen Rose Brehmer (Gary Wentz), Grand Forks, ND, Patricia Ann (Kent) Krom, Las Vegas, NV, Gerald Frederick (Catherine) Brehmer, Fargo, ND, Marilyn Kathryn (Jerry) Renaud, Grand Junction, CO, Carl Allen (Marcia) Brehmer, Chino Valley, AZ, Rodney Dale (Robin) Brehmer, Beulah, ND, and Duane Charles (Pam) Brehmer, Moorhead, MN; 18 grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Edithe Busch, Berlin, ND; and two brothers, Vincent Busch, Berlin, ND, and Arthur Busch, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Allen G. Brehmer, in 1996; four sisters, Lucina Pinkney, Esther Bernard, Florence Weiland, and Verena Busch; and one brother, George Busch. A Memorial Mass will be held at 12 Noon Monday in St. Mary?s Cathedral, Fargo. A service will also be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in Brooks Funeral Home, Langdon.
