Mary Alice Connelly was born November 14, 1920 in Lawton, N.D., the daughter of Patrick and Edith (Fifer) Connelly. She was educated at the Newbre Township school.

She married Kenneth Leith on June 28, 1937. They farmed and raised their seven children near Lakota, N.D. From 1957-1961 they lived in Minot, N.D. They then returned to their farm where they lived until 1981 when they retired and moved to Fargo.

Mary was devoted to her Catholic faith. She was a member of the St. Mary’s Alter Society. She taught CCD for many years and was the principle of the CCD program.

She was active in many of her children’s school activities including Band Mothers, PTA, and avidly followed their band and sports activities.

Mary loved her farm. Each spring she planted a huge garden and canned innumerable quarts of produce in the fall.

She was a proficient seamstress, sewing most of her children’s clothing through the years, and crocheting afghans for each of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mary is survived by children, Dennis, Minot, ND, Dale (Valerie), Owatonna, MN, Mary Beth, Grand Forks, ND, Judy (Lance) Sateren, Bismarck, ND, Jim (Paul Good), Golden Valley, MN, Anne (Marty) Riske, Fargo, ND, David (Betty) Stanley, ND; 19 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

With deepest sympathy for your loss. We both wish we could have been there for you, but Papa is just not up for travel. He’s so leery of getting away from home and having a severe episode again.

Take Care & God Bless You All!

Puyallup WAWe were so sorry to hear of Aunt Mary’s passing.

I have so many fond memories of her at the farm. She was a really good cook and a great mother. Aunt Mary, like most of the Connellys, had a wonderful sense of humor. And her ability to remain calm midst all the chaos of raising 7 kids was amazing.

She will be missed by all who knew her.

I’m so sad today. One of my dearest friends is gone. Thank God for memories as I have an abundance of them – of spending time with both her and Kenneth. Such a warm, welcoming home – always. Our sympathies to the Leith family for today and for many, many days to follow. Wrap yourself in the warmth of your mother’s love – it was plentiful. You were so blessed.
God Bless! Rick & Char Feldman
