Maurice Richard, 90, West Fargo passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012 at his home under the care of his loving family.

Maurice was born June 19, 1921 to Edward and Anna (Rivard) Richard in Fargo, North Dakota. Maurice grew up on the family farm near Horace, North Dakota. He attended school at St. Joseph's Academy in Wild Rice before going to work on the family farm. Maurice moved to Seattle, Washington where he worked on the docks for the Navy Supply Depot. After 4 years, he returned home to the family farm and met his future wife Ella Rheault. They wed on June 2, 1947 at St. Benedicts Catholic Church. They farmed on the family farm for 7 years along with Maurice's brother Tony. Maurice and Ella moved to West Fargo in 1953 where Maurice drove truck for Dan's Oil for 6 years. Maurice then went on to work for Westgo Manufacturing for 19 years as a shop foreman before retiring in 1983.

For many years, Maurice and Ella enjoyed traveling South for the winter and taking several memorable vacations including, China and Alaska.

With no formal training, Maurice was an excellent carpenter helping to build their home in Horace and the cabin on West McDonald Lake.

Maurice enjoyed gardening and working on his lawn. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending many years at his lake cabin.

Maurice is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ella, West Fargo, ND; children, Louise (Allyn) Klaman, Dickinson, ND, Bruce (Gloria) Richard,  Glenda (Jim) Nelson, Cynthia Spieker, Lorrie (Jack) Bucholz, all of West Fargo, ND, Kevin (Maria) Richard, Harwood, ND, daughter-in-law, Kathy Richard, West Fargo, ND, brother, Daniel Richard, Albuquerque NM, sisters, Joanne Erickson, St. Cloud, MN, Diane Grindberg, Fargo, ND, 18 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Maurice was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Anna, son, Dennis, step-grandchild, Matthew Spieker, brothers, Tony Richard, Roger Richard, sisters, Bea DuBord and Angela Lepine.
